Finding brands you can trust, that produce quality fashion is key to me and to my clients. In my last blog post I introduced you to West 14th and will continue sharing style tips on how to wear certain pieces in multiple ways from their range.
Each piece in your wardrobe needs to work hard for you, it needs to be versatile and allow you the option to wear on repeat. Selecting quality fabrics is key and there is a difference in leathers and how they are treated and produced that should be what you research before purchasing. Allowing you to make a well informed decision especially when you are spending the dollars.
First up is the Houston High Rise Legging, a fitted style of pant which is like a second skin. Zipper detailing on the inner leg and a high rise fit which makes them so comfortable to wear, includes belt loops if you prefer to style with a belt. Easy to style for everyday or dressed up for work or play. In the first image I went with a fitted singlet and an oversized coat, could easily belt the coat if you want to create a cinched in waist and more structure, paired with boots keeping that winter style. The next look I am dressed for work adding a cami and blazer and having some fun with matching heels. You could have the top underneath longer if you want greater coverage down the body. In the next look I am heading out to lunch with the current trend of a shacket and open toe block heels, although easily could wear with flats or sneakers. The option is there again to button up the shacket and belt if you prefer. Last look is all about polish and paired back with the West 14th trench coat, elongating the leg by keeping the shoe in a matching black. These pants would look just as stylish with a hoodie or a bomber style jacket for a true relaxed style. Leather pants are not just for a special occasion - treat them like a pair of jeans, easy to wear on high rotation.
Next up is the Paddington Drape Jacket and this was a favourite. Being small in stature I like that the fit was true to size and created a structured look, although you have a few options if you want to zip up the front or wear open. The detailing is exquisite and the cross stitch lace up on the sleeve and the side body was the perfect finishing touch. This would absolutely be my wear with everything jacket. Starting with the look of 2020/2021 - active wear just adds that extra touch of polish by including the jacket. The next look was an elevated work style and keeping the look very sleek with a pencil skirt and adding a belt around the jacket (the belt is also from West 14th and called the Long Island Extra Long Belt). This look is not limited to an office it would absolutely work for a night out as well and would look amazing with knee length boots. The third look is my go to style most weekends, high rise denim jeans, a singlet or tee and a leather jacket. Worn with heels for this shot although more likely to be in street style runners on any given day. Anyone else struggling to get back into wearing heels after working from home for so long? The last image is a close of up of the detailing, a true sign of quality design and production. This would be a forever jacket.
My final item to showcase is the Bondi Slouch Pant. A relaxed fit more of a low-mid rise. Comes with trouser front pockets and option to roll up the leg hem. These are perfect for those who do not love the fitted leather pant style. I stayed with two looks here, one with a linen shirt and boots, easy to throw over a jacket to complete this look. Then paired back with a dressy jacket that can be belted to create a more structured look. Focused on keeping it relaxed and comfortable and as always take out the boots for street runners or flats. Adding a long line cardigan or boxy knit would be another option to consider.
West 14th from their beginnings in 2012 continue to innovate and explore smart sustainable improvements within their sourcing and production of their styles. They have joined 1% for the Planet, giving back 1% of their sales to not for profits supporting environment change. They are making conscious decisions about the global impact fashion can have on the planet. They look at all options to reduce, reuse and recycle where they can. Head over to their website to learn more about these practices and see their full range.
A fun collaboration and always a pleasure to work with Australian brands that produce products like these. If you have been nervous to add leather into your wardrobe (outside of a belt or boots) then spend some time trying on a pair of pants or a jacket or skirt. You do want to find the right fit so that you feel comfortable and stylish at the same time.
